In a world where a factory can generate one petabyte of data daily, where will all the data associated with industrial IoT and its respective embedded systems environments reside? Designing for Industry 4.0 environments means considering how best to meet the storage requirements of embedded systems that need greater resilience, endurance and reliability for industrial operations. Any factory operation from increased efficiency to predictive maintenance, has specific physical considerations such as temperature, pressure, power and performance that must be considered when thinking through how best to capture, store, analyze and share data. Anything from hot vs. cold data, big vs. fast data, data in different formats from various architecture, data in sound, image, temperature, elevation, etc. have special considerations in Industry 4.0. This session will explore strategies for managing the data deluge that is approaching smart factories and other industrial environments in the connected era. Robert Rozario explores IIoT application use cases, their unique requirements, and the increasing role that storage at the edge is playing for industries like the manufacturing and industrial where data processing and analytics in real time are essential factors.
